How to play
The game explains all of this in far more detail itself: tap
How to play on the title screen for tabs covering the basics,
smash power, every target you can break, the random events and the avalanche.
- Steering
- Drag left or right anywhere on the screen. If you would rather play
one-handed, Settings → Controls lets you switch to Touch sides:
hold the left half of the screen to go left, the right half to go right.
Sensitivity and inverted steering are in the same place.
- Growing
- Rolling over snow increases your size. Deep powder grows you faster and
rebuilds lost speed.
- Why did I bounce off something I should have smashed?
- Smash power is size times speed, not size alone. Every impact
bleeds speed, so chaining hits without recovering can drop you below the
threshold. The red mark on the speed bar is the smash line — the slowest you
can go and still break the biggest thing your size has unlocked.
- The avalanche
- It gains whenever you are below the speed your size has earned, and it
takes you the moment the counter reaches zero — no size is big enough to
survive it. It also closes in as the run goes on: early on it sits well back
even at full speed, and deep into a run it rides much closer, so a long run is
not a safe one. Hit ramps for a boost, and remember every impact bleeds speed,
which is what feeds it.
- Snowball colors
- Points from every run add up permanently and unlock new snowball colors.
Choose them under Settings → Snowball.
Troubleshooting
- The game runs hot or stutters
- Settings → Visuals → Quality → Battery saver caps the frame
rate at 30 fps and turns off shadows and fog. Turning Screen effects down to
Subtle or Off also helps a lot on older devices.
- Motion discomfort
- Settings → Visuals lets you turn off Camera shake and
Wipeout slow-mo, and turn Screen effects down to Subtle or
Off.
- Speed shown in the wrong units
- Settings → Visuals → Speed in switches between mph and
km/h. Distances stay in meters either way.
- I lost my records
- Progress is stored only on your device, inside the app. Deleting and
reinstalling the app clears it, and it cannot be recovered.
